The William Jewell College men's basketball continued Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Thursday night as the Missouri S&T Miners came to visit. Jewell won a hard fought game 81-71 and improved to 7-7 and 3-3 in the GLVC, while the Miners drop to 8-6 and 1-5 in the conference.
Â
The first half was a close one, with the Miners leading a majority of the half. Heading into halftime though, the Cardinals and senior guard
Jordan Lewis caught fire and ultimately led 35-29. Lewis hit five 3-point shots leading the game in scoring through twenty minutes with 15, already 5 more points than his season average.
D'Vante Mosby also was very active with 6 points and a whopping 8 rebounds. The Miners scoring was very evenly distributed in the first half, as no player scored over 6 points.
Â
The next 20 minutes was more of the same hard-fought basketball.
Jordan Lewis kept up his hot shooting and hit another two threes in the second half and ended the game with 23 points. The Cardinals won the half 46-42, but really dominated the scoreboard for most of the half by 10 plus points.
Â
Jordan Lewis was the game's leading scorer with 23, including seven 3-pointers.
D'Vante Mosby also had a solid game, posting 9 points and 10 rebounds, just 1 point short of his fourth double-double on the season. It is noteworthy that Mosby did go out of the game with 12 minutes left wiith his fourth foul, keeping him from the double-double.
