Quincy University thrilled their hometown crowd Saturday at Quincy, Ill., with a running game and a dunkfest that resulted in a 78-70 win against William Jewell.
Jewell had their thrilling moments as well, highlighted by
D'Vante Mosby's double-double (18 points and 11 rebounds, along with a game-high three steals), and 9-27 three-point shooting. Â The Cardinals (7-10 overall, 3-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference) shot 43.9% to Quincy's 44.1%, but Quincy managed 11 more shots on four fewer turnovers and with a 16-9 advantage on the offensive boards.
Patrick Whelan knocked in 14 points and
Jordan Lewis added another 11 for Jewell. Â The Cardinals were outscored in the paint 40-26 by the Hawks (10-9, 4-5).
Jewell returns home to face Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday night.
