The William Jewell volleyball team fell to Truman State University in three sets on Saturday 14-25, 18-25, 16-25. This is the Cardinal's seventh loss in a row and drops the team to 4-11 overall and 0-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Jewell fell behind early in the match and never recovered as they dug 0-6 holes in each of the three sets. The Bulldogs took advantage of their second highest hitting percentage of the season (.315) and solid defense to pull away from the Cardinals early and often.
After posting a -.070 hitting percentage in the first set Jewell recovered to totoal a .182 mark in set two but again fell near the negative mark in the final set.
Kaylee Marquardt led the Cardinals with five kills on 21 attempts to go along with a team-high 16 digs.
Raechel Meisinger and
Kelsey Wagner also posted five kills while Meisinger also tied her career-high with four service aces. Libero
Olivia Tolberd added ten digs, with
Grace Miller and
Madeline Johnson chipping in four kills a piece.
Stefanie Richterkessing also posted 16 assists.
The road doesn't get any easier for the Cardinals in the GLVC as they host No. 10 Rockhurst on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Mabee Center.
