The William Jewell volleyball team dropped their eighth match in a row Tuesday after falling to No. 10 Rockhurst University in straight sets, 25-8, 24-14, 25-17. Jewell now stands at 4-12 overall, 0-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Although the Cardinals enjoyed early leads in sets one and three it was Rockhurst who dominated majority of the match.
Offensively the Cardinals, much like Rockhurst's other opponents this season couldn't get above the .100 mark as they hit a dismal .034 as a team. The bright spot however, was
Kaylee Marquardt who again led the Cardinals with ten kills on 22 attempts.
Raechel Meisinger added eight kills, six digs, and two blocks.
Defensively Jewell held the Hawks below their season average attack percentage (.324) as they kept RU at .286 while grabbing five blocks. Freshman
Olivia Tolberd posted a team high ten digs while
Stefanie Richterkessing chipped in 24 assists.
The Cardinals continue the rugged course of the Great Lakes Valley Conference this weekend as they host Missouri S&T and Drury University on Friday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 3:00 p.m. respectively.
