The William Jewell College men's basketball team snapped a three-game losing skid winning 72-71 over University of Illinois-Springfield in Springfield, Ill., on Thursday evening in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
The Cards built a ten point halftime lead only to see the Prairie Stars light it up from three-point land. UIS drained 9 second half three pointers, 13 overall, to cut into Jewell's first half lead. UIS did take a brief one point lead midway through the second half before Jewell went on a 7-0 run and never trailed after that point.
D'Vante Mosby sank one of two free throws to put Jewell up by four with two seconds to go before the Prairie Stars hit a three as time expired.
Christian Hildebrandt scored a game high 21 points and also grabbed 9 boards. Mosby had another solid outing posting another double double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Jewell (10-12, 6-8 GLVC) will take on McKendree University on Saturday, Februrary 14 in Lebanon, Ill. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
