The McKendree Bearcats used 60% shooting in the second half to overcome a 12 point deficit and defeat William Jewell on Saturday afternoon 79-72 in Lebanon, Ill. The loss sends the Cards to 10-13 overall and 6-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The reversal in shooting success followed one of the best offensive efforts of the year for Jewell as they sot 52% in the first half but could only manage to shoot 37% over the final 20 minutes.
D'Vante Mosby had 18 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Cardinals. Â
Christian Hildebrandt added 13 points and
Jordan Lewis contributed 12. Â The Cardinals outrebounded McKendree 39-36, and had one fewer turnover than the Bearcats (11 to 10).
McKendree head coach Harry Statham recorded the 1088th win of his career, but it is the first time he has defeated a
Larry Holley team in five attempts.
