The William Jewell College baseball team split a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader with Truman State University on Saturday afternoon at Talley Stadium in Liberty, Mo. Jewell rallied to win game one 4-3 but fell 6-5 in game two.
The Cards overcame a three run deficit in game one thanks to two clutch two-run home runs. In the bottom of the eighth Jewell trailed 3-0 when
Hunter Brown cut the lead to 3-2 when he smacked a two run homer that scored
Bryan Rezin.

Austin Kretchmar (6-0) remained perfect on the season tossing a complete game giving up 13 hits, and three runs while striking out four.
Game two saw the Cardinals jump out to a three run lead with single runs in the first, second and third. Truman then answered back with two in the fourth and four in the sixth to take a 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Cards made it interesting scoring two runs to cut the lead to 6-5 but Truman was able to hold on for the one run win.
Nick Farleigh(2-2) took the loss going all seven innings giving up 13 hits, six runs (four earned) and struck out four Bulldog batters.
Jewell, 17-4 and 8-2 in GLVC play, will continue the four game set with Truman with another doubleheader on Sunday with game one starting at 12:00 p.m.
