Box Score 2 The William Jewell College softball team was swept in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader at Truman State University on Saturday. The Cards fell in game one 4-1 and in game two 8-4.
The sweep drops the Cards to 21-18 overall and 9-13 in the GLVC.
The Bulldogs limited the Cards to only six hits in game one with
Nona Pauline collecting two of them.
Faith Song (5-3) took the loss tossing six innings while giving up six hits, and four runs (two earned) while striking out one.
Truman State jumped out to a 7-0 lead in game two. Jewell used a four run sixth to cut it to 7-4 and after Truman took an 8-4 lead the Cards had the bases loaded with two out in the seventh before the Bulldogs closed the door on the comeback.
Kelsey Morgan was 1-3 with a three run homerun while
Rachel Potvin was 2-4 with a run scored.
Shelby McGraw (8-6) took the loss as she pitched a complete game for Jewell.
Jewell will return home for a non-conference match up with Newman University on Wednesday, April 15 at 2:30 p.m.
