The William Jewell College baseball team began a four game Great Lakes Valley Conference series with Maryville University today at Talley Stadium on the Jewell campus.
Game one belonged to the Cardinals thanks to a strong pitching performance from
Nick Farleigh (4-2) who tossed a complete game shutout only giving up four hits.
The offense was sparked by a pair of two run homeruns from
Sam Morman and
Jared Patton.Â
The stellar pitching continued in game two as
Preston Felgate (3-0) and
Chris Mancha combined to pitch a 5 hit shutout as the Cards only needed a sacrifice fly from
Luke Lucchetti in the third to win 1-0.Â
Felgate threw 5.1 innings with four hits and four strikeouts.
The Cardinals (28-9, 18-7) will continue their series with the Saints with another doubleheader tomorrow starting at 12:00 p.m.
