The Jewell football team lost its fifth game on the season Saturday, dropping a 26-0 decision to Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri.
The Cardinals, though, gave up just one touchdown on defense, as the Miners scored on the first drive of the game with a nine yard pass, followed by four consecutive successful field goals and a pass interception returned for a score.
S&T (3-2, 2-1 in the GLVC) had 445 yards in total offense, while the Cardinals managed just 209 yards. Â Starting quarterback
Jared Hobby played the first half and went 12 31 passing for 113 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. Â In the second half
Collin Rugg relieved Hobby and went 6-14 in the air for 33 yards, throwing three interceptions. Â The Cardinals forced just one Miner turnover when they recovered a fumble.
Individually,
Trejuan Mask had 54 yards rushing whlile also leading the team with 39 yards. Â Issac Dozier had nine tackles and
Andrew Pence had six tackles and a fumble recovery.
Jewell (0-5, 0-3) return to Liberty for homecoming next weekend against Quincy.
