The William Jewell College men's basketball team fell in the Championship game of the Florida Tech Thanksgiving Tournament to host Florida Tech 98-83 on Saturday.
The Panthers hit 10 three-pointers in the first half which helped them establish a 49-38 halftime lead.
The Cardinals could only get as close as 11 points in the second half but did shoot 51% from the field for the contest.
Patrick Whelan led the Cardinals with 21 points and three assists.
Jorge Perez-Laham added 13 points and four assists. Both Whelan and Perez-Laham were named to the All-Tournament team.
Florida Tech's Sam Daniel led all scores with 29.
The Cardinals, 3-2 on the year, will open up Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Thursday when they host Quincy University. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
