The William Jewell College men's basketball team rolled to a 87-77 victory over Saint Joseph's College on Thursday night at the Mabee Center. With the victory, the Cardinals improve to 8-14 overall and 3-11 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The loss drops Saint Joseph's College to 9-15 on the year and 4-10 in conference play. 

The Cardinals came roaring out of the gate, starting the game on a 11-2 run en route to a 43-37 halftime lead. The Pumas were able to cut the lead to two points at 62-60, but the Cardinals would ultimately pull away and cruise to the victory.

Jewell showcased an unselfish offensive plan, as they handed out 16 assists on the evening. The Cardinals also made ten threes and shot over 50 percent from the field on the game. In an interesting tidbit, there were three technical fouls called in the contest.

Patrick Whelan led the Cardinal attack with 25 points and nine rebounds on the night. Darius Tomlin contributed 21 points to the winning effort, and Austin Regier grabbed 12 rebounds for Jewell.

CJ Hardaway paced the Pumas offensive attack with 16 points on the night. Chris Nunn chipped in 14 points for Saint Joseph's. 

Jewell returns to action on Saturday, when the Cardinals will play host to the University of Indianapolis at 3:00 p.m. in the Mabee Center.
