The William Jewell men's and women's Indoor Track and Field teams competed at Missouri Collegiate Challenge in Columba, Mo. Friday.
On the men's side, it was junior
Alec Whiteside who broke his own school record, which he set a year ago at the same event. Whiteside surpassed his mark of 16.60 meters in the weight throw with a 16.76 score on Friday.
Junior
Blake Alexander also finished fourth with a time of 8.24 in the men's 60 meter hurdles.
For the women
Jessica Goldsberry took home a third place finish in the 200 meter dash, clocking in a 26:37 while
Margaret Perko was fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.96.
In the women's field events, freshman
Talia Zook was also fourth with a weight throw of 15.09 meters.
Three Cardinals had sixth place finishes as Liria Gutierrez completed the mile run in 5:27:30 while
Julia Parker posted a 5.02 meter mark in the long jump, and Shelby Riddenhour with a 10.41 meter clip in the triple jump.
Jewell will wrap up the indoor season at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships in Kenosha, Wis. next weekend February 27-28. A select group of qualifying individuals will then compete at the NCAA Championships in Pittsburg, Kan. on March 11-12.
