The William Jewell track and field team traveled to Rolla, Mo. on Saturday to take part in the Dewey Allgood Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T.
Junior
Blake Alexander and senior
Jessica Goldsberry each brought home individual wins as Alexander won the men's 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.12. Goldsberry topped the women's 400 meter dash, finishing in 57.23 seconds.
Jewell grabbed top six finishes on both the men's and women's sides in four different events on the day. Along with Alexander, senior
Margaret Perko was sixth for the women with a time of 14.49 in the 100 hurdles.
In the steeplechase Liria Gutierrez was fifth, finishing in 12:39.85 for the women while freshman
Denver Strong was fourth for the men crossing the line in 10:31.04.
In the 3000 meter run
Chris Wood was the runner up for the men's side at 8:58.12 while
Elizabeth Stevenson was also fourth with a time of 10:58.76.
Fabio Kammler and
Gretchen Mayes were each fourth in the 200 meter dash with times of 21.93 and 25.65 respectively. Mayes also placed fifth in the 100 meter dash.
Next week Alexander and Perko will travel to Des Moines, Iowa after being selected to participate in the historic Drake Relays. The rest of the team will be in Ballwin City, Kan. on Saturday, April 30 to take part in the Zack Kindler Wildcat Open, hosted by Baker University.
