The William Jewell College baseball team lost a 12-6 non-conference road decision against the host Newman University Jets on Wednesday afternoon.  Jewell is now 19-10 overall, while Newman raises their season mark to 22-10.
Newman took control of the game with four runs in the first, a single run in the second and six in the fourth.  Jewell was able to get single runs in the third, fourth, eighth and ninth innings respectively and also plated home two runs in the fifth. 
Junior Garrett McKinze led the Cardinal offense on Wednesday going 2-for-6 with one RBI. Catcher 
Zach Tyson was 3-for-6 on the day. 
Dylan Pollock started the game for Jewell and took the loss to see his season record fall to 3-3.  Pollock only lasted 1 1/3 innings while giving up seven hits and five earned runs. 
Up next, the Cardinal baseball team is scheduled to begin a four-game weekend Great Lakes Valley Conference series against Drury University on Saturday.  First pitch Saturday is set for 12:00 p.m.
