The William Jewell College baseball team split its Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) doubleheader against Drury University on Saturday afternoon. Jewell took game one 2-0 but fell 3-0 in game two.
Jewell (20-11, 6-4) used a brilliant pitching performance from GLVC pitcher of the week
Austin Kretchmar. Kretchmar tossed a complete game shutout only allowing seven hits while striking out five.
Dane Erbst and
Dylan Christie recorded the only two RBI's Jewell would need.
In game two, it was Drury's turn for a stellar pitching performance. The Panthers' Luke Burnidge threw a complete game shutout of his own going seven innings limiting the Cards to only three hits while striking out seven.
The two teams won't have to wait long to face each other again. The Cardinals and Panthers will wrap up their four game set tomorrow with first pitch set for 12:00 p.m.
