William Jewell College senior hurdler Blake Alexander and Saint Joseph's College junior jumper Phil Thompson have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the Conference office Tuesday. 

Alexander once again won the 60 meter hurdles, this time at the Pittsburg State Invitational on Saturday in Pittsburg, Kan. After posting a time of 8.16 in the preliminaries he set a new school record of 7.97 in the finals. This mark is also the fastest time the GLVC and ranks fourth in all of NCAA II this season. 

This is not only the first Indoor Athlete of the Week honor in Alexander's career but the first in program history for the Jewell men's track and field team.
