The William Jewell volleyball team fell in straight sets to Drury on the road Tuesday evening by scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-21. The Cardinals fall to 4-10 overall and 1-4 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- SET ONE: Drury went on a 13-2 run in the middle of the opening set to grab a ten point lead on their way to the 25-13 win.
- SET TWO: With the Cardinals trailing by just one, the Panthers went on a 5-0 run that led to a 14-8 separation. Jewell could not overcome the late deficit and fell 25-17.
- SET THREE: The Cardinals came out of the intermission with a renewed energy and led by as many as five in the final set before Drury mounted a rally that put them on top 20-16. The two teams traded points remainder of the way but the Panthers ultimately took the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jewell managed just 26 kills on the night an a .049 attack percentage compared to Drury's 44 and .243.
- The Cardinals earned six service aces while committing just two receiving errors.
