The William Jewell men's basketball team fell on the road at Drury on Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Mo. by a score of 86-67. The loss drops the Cardinals to 16-5 on the season and 6-5 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals fell into an early 27-15 hole half way through the opening 20 minutes. Eight consecutive points from Patrick Whelan pulled Jewell within six with just under seven minutes to play in the opening half.
- The Panthers pushed their lead back to 11 before the Cardinals went on a run to close the period. Free throws from Pharroh Gordon and Eysan Wiley along with a three from Whelan put Jewell on top 37-36 in the final minute. The Panthers hit a three with just eight seconds to go to hold a 39-37 half time lead.
- Whelan's jumper at the 15:00 mark of the second half gave Jewell the lead at 43-42 but the Cardinals could not separate themselves. Drury grew their lead as large as 16 before Jewell was forced to foul over the final two minutes.

- Gordon posted his tenth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 boards.
