HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Set One: Jewell battled early in the first set, trailing by just one after a kill from Maddie Wingert. The Hawks went on a 11-6 run to pull ahead by a score of 21-15 and force a Jewell timeout. The Cardinals scored three straight points on two Jenna Rau kills and a Rockhurst error, but the Hawks closed the set on a 4-1 run.
  • Set Two: The Cardinals fell into a 14-9 hole early in the second set and could not recover falling 25-15 with 11 kills
  • Set Three: After the break, the Cardinals came out firing and opened an 18-12 advantage, lead by five kills and block from Paityn Hardison. The Hawks made things interesting by staving off set point three times before a kill by Grace Baucom sealed the win and forced a fourth set.
  • Set Four: After trading points early, Rockhurst went on 9-2 run to take a 20-12 lead. A kill by Baucom ended the skid but the Hawks closed the match on another run to take the final set 25-14.
