The William Jewell football returned to Greene Stadium on Saturday and fell to Lincoln University by a score of 23-14 to drop to 1-6 on the season and 1-4 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1Q (3:07) - The Cardinals scored for the first time this season in the opening quarter after Ty Boles ran one yard to the end zone for his first career touchdown. Dalton Dye connected on the PAT and Jewell was on top early. (7-0, Jewell)
- 2Q (5:33) - Lincoln tied the game in the second quarter on a Terry Henry two-yard rush. (7-7)
- 2Q (00:20) - The Blue Tigers used 11 plays to travel 67 yards and run over five minutes off the clock just before the half to take a three point lead on a 32-yard field goal. (10-7, LU)
- 3Q (7:21) - Lincoln went up by two scores midway through the third quarter on a 17-yard completion from Henry Ogala to Eric Brice. (16-7, LU)
- 3Q (5:04) - Jewell responded quickly, running just four plays before Will Schneider connected with Keelon Vann for a 44-yard touchdown to pull the Cardinals within two. (16-14, LU)
- 3Q (1:39) - The Blue Tigers wasted little time expanding their lead back to nine with an eight play, 55 yard drive resulting in a one yard quarterback touchdown. (23-14, LU)
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Cardinals managed just 99 yards rushing and 233 yards of total offense, compared to 230 and 388 by Lincoln respectively.
- Jewell punted five times for an average of 43.8 yards while the Blue Tigers kickers put together just 22.3 yards per punt (4).
- Lincoln controlled the clock for much of the game, holding the ball for 39:32 on the afternoon.
