The William Jewell volleyball secured their third consecutive double-digit win season on Friday night with a 3-1 win over Maryville in St. Louis, Missouri. The Cardinals move to 10-19 on the season and 4-11 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Set One: The Cardinals struggled in the opening set trailing by as many as ten early. A 6-2 run pulled Jewell within five at 22-17 but they could get no closer, falling 25-19.
- Set Two: After falling behind 8-6, the Cardinals went on a 12-2 run, including nine straight points, led by two kills from Elizabeth Quinn, to take a commanding 18-10 lead. The Saints scored three more points but that was it as three consecutive Maryville errors sealed the 25-13 Jewell win.
- Set Three: Tied at 12, the Cardinals again put together a long 10-2 run capped by two kills by RaechelMeisinger to hold a 22-14 advantage. Maryvillemade a small push but a kill by Grace Baucom ended the set 25-18 in favor of the Cards.
- Set Four: The final set started with much of the same, as Jewell jumped out to an 17-6 lead, led by three kills and a block from Meisinger. Three Cardinal errors brought the Saints within six and forced a Jewell timeout. Following the break, Jewell got a kill from Jenna Rau and three Maryvilleerrors to take a 24-16 lead. The Saints held Jewell off for four points before a service error gave the Cardinals the match.

- The Cardinals hit just .092 on the night but held their opponent to an .039 clip, including hitting negative in two of the four sets.
- Jewell led with 10 blocks and 73 digs, compared to just six and 70 by the Saints.
