Cardinals Fall at Findlay

The William Jewell football team dropped a 58-17 decision at the University the Findlay on Saturday afternoon in Findlay, Ohio. With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 0-2 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • 1Q (13:36) - Findlay used a four yard run by Michael Campbel to jump on top early 7-0. (7-0, UF)
  • 1Q (2:56) - The Oilers used 11 plays and nearly five minutes to travel 57 yards and go up by two scores. (14-0, UF)
  • 2Q (12:11) - An 18 yard rush, followed by a failed point after attempt, pushed the Findlay lead to 20. (20-0, UF)
  • 2Q (2:15) - The Oilers connected on a 10 yard touchdown pass, followed by a five yard scoring rush to take a 34 point advantage. (34-0, UF)
  • 2Q (00:28) - Donte Colum put Jewell on the board with an 82 yard interception run, his first of the year. (34-7, UF)
  • 3Q (00:00) - Just before the half Findlay's Chris Demler hit a 39 yard field goal to make it a 37-7 game at the break. (37-7, UF)
  • 3Q (11:18) - The Oilers got a 61 yard touchdown connection and a two yard run on back-to-back possessions early in the third quarter. (58-7, UF)
  • 4Q (14:21) - Findlay used more than eight minutes and 18 plays, to travel 92 yards and get a one yard rush to extend the lead. (58-7, UF)
  • 4Q (7:03) - After four consecutive complete passes from Will Schneider, Bulla Graft put the Cardinals in the end zone on a five yard rush. (58-14, UF)
  • 4Q (2:49) - Dalton Dye hit a season-best 42 yard field goal with under three minutes to play to pull the score to the final. (58-17, UF)

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Cardinals connected on better than 44 percent (17-of-38) of passes for 210 yards. 
  • The Oilers posted 255 rushing yards to Jewell's 88. 
  • Both teams turned the ball over once, with the Cardinals capitalizing with an 82 yard interception return.

LEADERS OF THE FLIGHT
  • Schneider went 16-for-33 for 203 yards, while also leading the Cardinals with 41 rushing yards on nine attempts. 
  • TJ Guillory hauled in six passes for 50 yards, while Keelon Vann added 55 receiving yards on three catches. 
  • Thaddeus Glenn led Jewell with 12 tackles, while Brock Geisz added 11.
