Cardinals Drop GLVC Opener at No. 25 Indianapolis

The William Jewell football team dropped the 2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference opener at No. 25 Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon by a score of 41-14. The Cards fall to 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in GLVC play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • 1Q (7:50) - UIndy took an early lead with a 35-yard field goal on their opening drive. (3-0, UIndy)
  • 1Q (00:14) - The Greyhounds scored the first touchdown with just seconds left in the opening quarter on a six yard rush by Al McKeller. (10-0, UIndy)
  • 2Q (10:45) - Indianapolis used a two yard rush by McKeller to go on top by 17 early in the second frame. (17-0, UIndy)
  • 2Q (2:54) - The Greyhounds scored on back-to-back possessions to take a 31 point lead late in the opening half. (31-0, UIndy)
  • 2Q (00:12) - With under 15 seconds to play in the first half, Will Schneider connected on a 12 yard pass to Keelon Vann to put Jewell on the board. (31-7, UIndy)
  • 3Q (5:47) - After holding the Greyhounds scoreless for the first ten minutes of the second half, UIndy found the end zone with a 15 yard completion. (38-7, UIndy)
  • 4Q (11:21) - UIndy's Jacob Lafree hit a 21 yard field goal to push the Greyhound lead to 41-7 at the start of the final quarter. (41-7, UIndy) 
  • 4Q (6:02) - Schneider once again proved his versatility, using a six yard run into the end zone to put the Cardinals at 13 points, with Dalton Dye's point after attempt bringing the score to the final of 41-14.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • The Cards posted 192 yards of total offense for an average of 2.8 per play.  
  • Jewell was 7-of-17 third down conversions and 2-of-3 on fourth down. 
  • The Cardinals posted 151 passing yards on 13-of-29 attempts but were sacked 12 times.

LEADERS OF THE FLIGHT
  • Anthony Pritzel led the Cardinals with 47 yards on four catches while Vann added 35 yards on two receptions and a score. 
  • Jack Kutey led the defense with 10 tackles, with Justice Taylor adding seven.

Jewell wraps up the three game road trip with a stop at Truman State next Saturday. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
