The William Jewell men's basketball team fell behind early and dropped a 88-75 Great Lakes Valley Conference conference contest at Rockhurst on Saturday morning. The loss drops the Cardinals to 8-9 overall and 2-3 in GLVC play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• 1st Half: Rockhurst's Chris Hamil connected on six three pointers over the first seven minutes of play to help the Hawks open a 17 point lead early in the first half. A layup from Pharroh Gordon cut the lead to 13 with 11 minutes to play but the Hawks continued their three point barrage and closed the half with a 44-22 lead.  
• 2nd Half: Early in the second half the Hawks expanded their lead to as many as 28 before the Cardinals began to cut into the deficit. With under three minutes to play, Keith Hayes completed an old fashioned three point play to pull Jewell within 12 for the first time since early minutes of the game, but the Cardinals could get no closer.

• The Cardinals shot 37 percent from the floor compared to 46 percent by Rockhurst
• Jewell was out-rebounded 56-32. 
• The Cardinals committed a season-low five turnovers while forcing 16.
