The William Jewell men's basketball team ran into a red-hot Indianapolis team on Saturday where they fell 95-67 to drop to 9-12 overall and 3-6 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1st Half: The Cardinals got off to a fast start, leading 10-4 after just three minutes of play but a 20-5 run over the next 10 minutes by UIndy to opened up a nine point advantage for the Greyhounds. A bucket by Pharroh Gordon brought the Cardinals within seven but that would be the closet they would get the remainder of the game as the Greyhounds closed the half on a 17-2 run to go into the break leading 45-23.
- 2nd Half: The Cardinals played nearly even in the second half trailing just 50-44 but the early hole was too large to overcome. UIndy expanded their lead to as many as 31 in the second half on the way to the 95-67 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Cardinals scored 14 points off 11 UIndy turnovers, all in the second half.
- Jewell shot just 39 percent for the game and 21 percent from the three point line.
- The Cards attempted just 10 free throws against the Greyhounds, their second-lowest output this season, making five.
