The William Jewell men's basketball team earned their sixth consecutive win and even their record with a 108-93 win in a battle of two of the top offenses in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. With the win, the Cardinals move to 8-8 on the year and 2-2 in GLVC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1st Half: The Cardinals got off to a hot start as three pointers from Keith Hayes and Mason Alexander gave Jewell an early six point lead. The Miners came within two midway through the first half, but a 16-6 run by the Cardinals pushed the Jewell lead 41-29 with just under four minutes to play in the half. Two free throws by Jackson Golightly with 40 seconds on the clock pushed the Jewell lead to the largest of the half at 16 but a three by the Miners' Juwan Miller made it a 53-40 game at the half.  Â
- 2nd Half: Jewell expanded the lead to as large as 17 early in the second half before Missouri S&T slowly cut into the lead. The Miners outscored Jewell 30-15 over the next six minutes to pull within two with under 12 minutes to play. The Cardinals responded with a 15-2 run to push the lead back to 15 with 8:24 remaining, cruising to the win.Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Both teams were exceptional offensively, as the Miners shot 50 percent from the field and 43 percent from behind the arc, but the Cardinals were better going, 35-for-63 from the floor for 56 percent and 44 percent from the three-point line.Â
- The Cardinals took advantage of the foul line, going 28-for-31, compared to just 15-of-19 by Missouri S&T
- Jewell forced 19 turnovers leading to 27 points.Â

- For the third consecutive game, Hayes tied or set a new career-high with 33 points. On the weekend, the senior scored 63 points on 22-for-33 from the floor and 9-for-15 from three-point land.Â
