YOU SHOULD NOTE
REMATCH ON TAP
Jewell and Southwest Baptist has become a bit of a rivalry over the past few years as the two teams have gone back and forth in the win-loss column. The Cardinals took the last two meetings including a 29-9 final in week one of this season. The Bearcats got into the red zone on seven occasions and scored just once as the Jewell defense held strong. The Cardinals racked up two blocked kicks and five sacks in the game as well. SBU has won two games since then and will be looking for some revenge but Jewell will get a spark with the return of safety Jack Gordon on Saturday who put up 11 tackles in week one.Â
Â
STILL STREAKING
Kicker Dalton Dye continues to keep the Cardinals tied for first in the league alongside Indianapolis and Truman after hitting all 10 point-after-attempts this season. Dye has now hit 32 PAT in a row, dating back to November 2017. The redshirt junior has missed just two in his career, both coming during his freshman season.Â
Â
SCHNEIDER AMONG LEAGUE'S BEST
Quarterback Will Schneider has put his name in the middle of the conversation for some of the top quarterbacks in the GLVC this season. The junior is third in the league in both passing yards per game and total offense as he is also a threat with his legs. Â
Â
GLVC DEFENSIVE LEADERS
Redshirt senior Brock Geisz continued his impressive final season as he posted 10 tackles for his fourth double-figure game of the season. He currently ranks second in the GLVC in tackles per game just .2 behind Drew Seers of Lindenwood. Cameron McKasson's 7.6 tackles per game puts two Cardinals in the top 10 with Donte' Colum and Jack Gordon sitting just outside tied at No. 11. Â
Â
JAGGWE MAKING MOVES
Jalik Jaggwe has enjoyed an impressive first half of the season as he has led the Cardinals with 449 yards receiving on 22 catches and three touchdowns. The junior enters the week ranked third in receiving yards per game with nearly 90 along with fifth in receptions per game and seventh in all purpose yards per game. Â
Â
LAST TIME OUTÂ
The Cardinals are coming off a tough loss at the hands of then-No.11 Indianapolis. The Greyhounds came out strong, limiting the Cardinals to -22 yards rushing and just 196 yards through the air on their way to the 59-7 win.Â
Â
Will Schneider finished with 196 yards and a touchdown pass to Jalik Jaggwe who posted 65 yards. Nick Allsman led the ground game with 11 yards on three carries. Brock Geisz again posted double-digit tackles with a game-high 10. Dalton Dye finished with nine punts, for an average of 43.8 yards and two traveling 50-plus yards.
THE SERIES
This will be the eleventh meeting between the Cardinals and Bearcats and the second this season. Jewell has won the last two matchups and four of the past six since opening the series with four straight losses in 1986, 1987, 2010, and 2011.Â
