The William Jewell football team suffered a 42-12 set back at the hands of McKendree University on Saturday afternoon in Liberty. The Cardinals fall to 1-6 overall and 0-5 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. 


How it Happened

• McKendree scored the first touchdown of the game with just under eight minutes remaining in the first quarter as Jace Franklin ran three yards to the end zone. 
• The Bearcats scored 21 straight points in the second quarter to take a commanding lead. 
• Dalton Dye put Jewell on the board with a 34-yard field goal just over 10 minutes to play in the third frame. 
• A 68 yard completion to Matt Cole expanded the Bearcat lead on the ensuing drive. 
• Dye again came up big for the Cardinals, nailing a 42-yard field goal.
• Rye'll Dydell scored the first Jewell touchdown of the day with a 13-yard run in the fourth quarter. 
• A 74-yard punt return by Cole pushed the McKendree lead to the final of 42-12. 

For the Cardinals

• Will Schneider finished with 237 yards through the air and 85 yards on the ground to lead the offense.
• Jalik Jaggwe posted his third 100-plus receiving yard game of the season with 118. Nick Fisher added 61 receiving yards. 
• Antonio Wabanimkee collected a career-high 13 tackles followed by Brock Geisz' nine. 

For the Bearcats

• Quarterback Turner Pullen put up 280 yards and three touchdowns on 19 completions. 
• Franklin led the running game with 65 yards and a score. 
• Cole posted 123 yards and two touchdowns while Steven Towns added 74 receiving yards. 
• Three Bearcats collected seven tackles.
