Balanced Attack Leads Cardinals to Big Road Win Over Lindenwood

The William Jewell volleyball team put together a well-balanced offensive attack on their way to a 3-1 win over Lindenwood in the team's first meeting as Great Lakes Valley Conference foes. With the win, the Cardinals move to 6-10 overall and 2-2 in GLVC action.

How it Happened
  • The Cardinals came out quickly, jumping out to a 8-1 lead in the opening set. The Lions pulled with seven but kills from Jessica Jacobs and Haleigh Borich combined with a Kennedy Ruckh ace sealed the set.
  • Jewell behind by four midway through the second set but went on a 6-1 run to retake a 18-17 lead. Both teams went back-and-forth the rest of the way but two kills late from the Lions gave Lindenwood the win.
  • The Cardinals again fell behind in set three but the rally was enough this time. Trailing 20-15 Jewell got three kills from Paityn Hardison to tie the score at 24. Two big blocks and a kill from Elizabeth Quinn put the Cards on top two sets to one.
  • The finale was another tight one as the two teams were tied at 20 late in the set. Jewell outscord the Lions 5-2 over the final seven points to take the match.

  • The Cardinals were balanced offensively with Maddie Wingert leading the way with nine kills. Quinn and Hardison added eight a piece, and Tori Vogt chipped in seven.
