The William Jewell football team battled the weather and the No. 16 ranked team in the nation on Saturday as they fell 63-10 to Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich.

How it Happened

• The Cardinals got on the board first as the Cardinals used 10 plays to travel just 40 yards but Dalton Dye connected on a 47-yard field goal, one yard off his career-high to give Jewell an early 3-0 advantage. 
• Grand Valley wasted little time responding as quarterback Cole Kotopka found Brandon Wadley for a 63-yard touchdown to take the lead. The Lakers scored 28 straight points to close the half to lead 28-3 at the break. 
• Grand Valley added an addition 28 point to open the second half before the Cardinals found the end zone as Anthony Pritzel found Jalik Jaggwe from six yards out. 
• The Lakers got a late pick six to push the lead to the final of 63-10. 

For the Cardinals

• Pritzel finished with 75 passing yards and a score on just 13 attempts.
• Jaggwe finished with 49 yards receiving to go along with 33 kick return yards.  
• Nick Allsman led the running game with 24 yards. 
• Antonio Wabanimkee led the defense with 10 tackles while Kole Wagener added two sacks for 10 yards lost. 

For the Lakers

• Kotopka totaled 244 yards through the air and four touchdowns, with three scores and 212 of those yards finding Wadley. 
• Derrick Hubbard had eight tackles.
