The William Jewell men's basketball team opened the
Chris McCabe era with a victory on Friday as they downed Purdue Northwest by a final of 96-77 at the third edition of the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

How it Happened
- Both teams got off to a slow start as Jewell led just 6-2 after three minutes of play. From there, the Cardinals outscored PNW 20-6 over the next seven minutes, led by Robbie Hanson's four three-pointers. The Pride closed the gap to three late in the first half but Jewell responded with an 11-2 run capped by a three from Nick Bradley and held a 46-36 lead at the break.Â
- The two teams came out of the intermission equally matched before the Cardinals went on a 22-10 run to open up a 19-point lead, led by a combined 13 points from Bradley and Eysan Wiley. Jewell cruised over the final minutes as every player in uniform appeared in the game.

For the Cardinals
- Wiley opened his junior season with a career-high 29 points to go along with nine rebounds and three blocks.Â
- Hanson more than tripled his previous career-high as he put up 21 points on 5-of-10 from behind the arc.Â
- Bradley collected 13 points, four assists and three steals.Â
- As a team, the Cardinals shot 54 percent from the floor and nearly 55 percent from behind the three-point line. Â
For the Pride
- Jyrus Feels was tops for Purdue Northwest with a double-double of 25 points and 12 boards while Jordan Doss added 15 points.
- The Pride was held to 37 percent shooting and just 25 percent from the three-point line. Â
