The William Jewell women's basketball team opened the 2019-2020 season on Saturday as they traveled to Romeoville, Illinois for the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover. The Cardinals suffered a 60-33 set back at the hands of Northern Michigan. 

How it Happened

• Jewell opened the game hot, jumping out to an early 11-5 lead following two free throws from Sydney Offield. The Wilcats responded outscoring the Cards 12-4 over the remaining six minutes of the first quarter. 
• The Cardinals were limited to just a single point in the second frame, coming on a free throw from Ainsley Tolson, as Northern Michigan grew their lead to 18. 
• The two teams played relatively evenly in the second half but the early deficit was too much to overcome for the Cardinals. 

For the Cardinals

• Rhyann Fisher led the offense in her first game back since February 2018 with seven points. 
• Kiara Bradley finished with four rebounds while Rachel Schon picked up two assists. 
• The Cardinals shot just 23.5 percent from the floor. 

For the Wildcats

• Jessica Schultz was the only player on either side to reach double-figures as she finished with 12. Samantha Potter had a game-high seven boards.
