Cardinals Take the Series at Southwestern Oklahoma with 7-1 Win

The William Jewell baseball team used another big performance at the plate to down Southwestern Oklahoma 7-1 in the rubber game of the series and move to 2-1 on the young season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • T2: For the third straight game, the Cardinals got on the board early, as Nick Gavin and Logan Becker reached base before scoring on a two-RBI single from Mason Goade. (2-0, Jewell)
  • T3: The Cards added a run in the third on back-to-back doubles from Chase Redick and Anthony Hansen. (3-0, Jewell)
  • T5: Two walks and a double loaded the bases for Becker who also walked to force in Hansen and add another tally for Jewell. Goade and Trenton Worley followed with consecutive RBI singles to push the lead to six before Nick Easley reached on a RBI fielder's choice. (7-0, Jewell)
  • B5: SWOSU got on the board on a sacrifice fly from Chris Cloud. (7-1, Jewell)

The Cardinals continue their nine-game road trip to open the season as they travel to the Emporia State Round Robin next weekend to take on Fort Hays, Wayne State (NE), and the host Hornets.
