Cardinals Swept at Emporia State

The William Jewell baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader against Emporia State on Thursday afternoon in Andover, Kan. to fall to 3-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • T3: Chase Redick reached base on an error and scored the first career home run off the bat of Anthony Hansen. (2-0, Jewell)
  • B4: Emporia State took advantage of a hit-by-pitch and error, coupled with an RBI to get on the scoreboard. (2-1, Jewell)
  • B6: the Hornets got a two-run pinch hithome run from Aaron Dees to take their first lead of the day. (3-2, ESU)
  • T9: The Cardinals tied the game on a pinch hit RBI single from Nick Gavin to score Mason Goade. (3-3)
  • B9: A lead off double led to an RBI single by Pau Claassen to give the Hornets the walk off win. (4-3, ESU)

  • B3: The Hornets got four consecutive hits in the bottom of the third to retake the lead. (3-1, ESU)
  • B4: Emporia State used a fielder's choice and stolen bases to expand their lead to four. (5-1, ESU)
  • T5: Goade and Redick posted back-to-back doubles to lead off the fifth frame and came around to score on RBI from Hansen and Tyler Murphy to pull the Cardinals within two. (5-3, ESU)
  • B5: The Hornets added a run in the bottom of the inning as a double steal resulted in a run. (6-3, ESU)
