The William Jewell baseball team used late runs to sweep a split series against Oklahoma Christian and Cameron University on Sunday in Lawton, Okla. The Cardinals downed OCU 3-1 before taking a 6-4 contest over the Aggies in the nightcap to move to 5-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• B4: After the two teams combined to strand 14 runners through three and half innings, Oklahoma Christian got on the board first with a solo home run by Andrew Garcia. (1-0, OCU)
• T5: The Cardinals wasted no time in responding as Christian Chalabi singled and came around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Austin Kline. (1-1)
• T9: Jewell got consecutive singles to lead off the final inning and both runners advanced on a sacrifice before scoring on a double by Chase Redick. (3-1, Jewell)

HOW IT HAPPENED

• B3: Cameron took the early lead in the third frame as Izrael Trevino doubled to score two. (2-0, CU)
• T4: Once again, Jewell immediately responded by tying the game on a two-RBI double off the bat of Trenton Worley to score Bollman and Tyler Murphy. (2-2)
• T5: The Cardinals took their first lead as Nick Gavin singled followed by Bollman reaching on a Cameron error put two on for Kline to singled to right and advanced to third on another Aggie miscue. The next pitched sailed to the backstop, allowing Kline to cross the plate. (5-2, Jewell)
• B7: An error and passed ball allowed Cameron to pull within two in the seventh inning. (5-3, Jewell)
• B8: The Aggies cut the lead to one in the following frame on a solo home run from Pierce Khan. (5-4, Jewell)
• T9: Jewell got one run back in the ninth as Anthony Hansen walked and scored on a sacrifice fly from Tyler Murphy. (6-4, Jewell)

• Winning Pitcher: Mack Stephenson (1-0) posted another solid outing, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out a career high nine batters in just five innings. 
• Losing Pitcher: Andrew Garza (1-2) took the loss, giving up four earned runs on eight hits. 
• Save: Murphy (1)

• This is the Cardinals first win over Cameron in the last eight meetings, dating back to February 2013.
