The William Jewell baseball team downed Southwestern Oklahoma 6-3 in the nightcap of a season-opening doubleheader on Saturday in Weatherford, Okla., to open 2019 at 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- T1: Trent Bollman posted a double to left center on the first pitch of the season and came around to score on a fielder's choice from Chase Redick. (1-0, Jewell)
- T2: Nick Gavin placed a double to the gap, advanced to third on wild pitch, before scoring on an error by the Bulldog shortstop to push the Jewell lead to two. (2-0, WJC)
- B2: SWOSU plated three runs, two of which were unearned, in the bottom of the frame on two hits to take their first lead of the day. (3-2, SWOSU)
- B7: The Bulldogs added a run on an error to push their lead to two after seven frames. (4-2, SWOSU)

- T1: Chalabi opened the nightcap with a double down the left line and scored on a Redick single to give the Cardinals a quick lead. (1-0, Jewell)
- B1: The Bulldogs wasted no time tying the game with an unearned run in the bottom of the frame. (1-1)
- T2: Jewell went back on top as Austin Kline singled and scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Chalabi. (2-1, Jewell)
- B7: SWOSU knotted the score at two as Robert Perea singled and scored on a groundout to third. (2-2)
- T8: The Cardinals retook the lead in the eighth with Chase Fiddler, pinch running with Gavin, scoring on a wild pitch (3-2, Jewell)
- B8: SWOSU again tied the game, this time on a wild pitch in the bottom of the frame. (3-3)
- T9: The offense came to life in the ninth inning as Mason Goade and Chalabi reached base via a hit-by-pitch and walk before scoring on back-to-back singles from Redick and Hansen to push the score to the final. (6-3, Jewell)
