The William Jewell baseball team opened the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule on Sunday afternoon with a split against Missouri S&T. The Cardinals dropped the opener 11-0 before taking game two 4-1, behind a complete game, two-hit performance from junior
Mack Stephenson to move to 6-7-1 and 1-1 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- T1: The Miners jumped out on top early with four runs on two hits and a sacrifice fly. (4-0, MST)
- T4: Missouri S&T pushed the lead to eight in the fourth, adding four runs on three hits. (8-0, MST)
- T5: Three hits and an error added to runs to the total for the S&T as they pushed the lead to 10. (10-0, MST)
- T7: The Miners tacked on an additional run on an RBI single from Matt Knickerbocker. (11-0, MST)

- Winning Pitcher: Luke Marcheshi (4-0) earned the win for the Miners tossing a complete game shutout with three strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- B1: In the nightcap it was the Cardinals who jumped out to the early lead as Tyler Murphy took the first pitch he saw over the right center field fence. (1-0, Jewell)
- B3: Anthony Hansen singled up the middle to score Chase Redick in the third and extend the Jewell lead to two. (2-0, Jewell)
- B4: The Cardinals tacked on two more in the bottom of the fourth on a fielder's choice and RBI single by Murphy. (4-0, Jewell)
- T5: The Miners got a walk, bunt single, and sac fly to get on the board for the first time in the game. (4-1, Jewell)
