The William Jewell baseball team fell 9-4 in the rubber game of the opening weekend of the Great Lakes Valley Conference season. The Cardinals fall to 6-8-1 on the season and 1-2 in league action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• B1: The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead as Tyler Murphy and Trent Bollman each singled and came around to score on a base hit by Nick Modrcin. (2-0, Jewell)
• T2: Missouri S&T cut the lead in the half with a double by Kaleb Reid. (2-1, Jewell)
• B2: Jewell got the run back in the bottom half of the frame on an RBI single up the middle from Chase Redick to score Murphy. (3-1, Jewell)
• B5: Murphy earned a lead off walk before scoring on an infield single off the bat of Bollman to extend the Cardinal lead to three. (4-1, Jewell)
• T6: The Miners took their first lead scoring six runs on six hits. (7-4, MST)
• T7: Missouri S&T added a run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Matt Knickerbocker. (8-4, MST)
• The Miners tacked on an additional run with two doubles in the ninth. (9-4, MST)
