The William Jewell baseball team fell by a final of 9-3 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at Maryville University on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Cardinals to 7-12 overall and 1-5 in the GLVC. 


HOW IT HAPPENED

• B2: Maryville got on the board first after a solo home run by Louis Niemerg led off the second inning.  (1-0, MU)
• T3: Jewell came right back with a home run of their own, this one was a two-run shot by Tyler Murphy. (2-1, Jewell)
• B3: The Saints got five hits and took advantage of a timely error by the Cardinals to retake the lead. (5-2, MU)
• T4: Austin Kline pulled Jewell within three with a double to left center scoring Nick Modrcin. (5-3, MU)
• B5: An RBI triple coupled with a single pushed the Maryville lead back to four. (7-3, MU)
• B7: A Jewell error allowed the Saints to cross the plate and extend the advantage to five. (8-3, MU)
• B8: The Saints added a run in the eighth on an RBI single by Niemerg. (9-3, MU)

ON THE MOUND

• Win: Cody Siebenberger (2-0) earned the win after tossing eight innings and allowing just three earned runs on six hits. 
• Loss: Kylan Easley (0-2) took the loss going four innings and allowing five earned runs.
