The William Jewell baseball team dropped two Great Lakes Valley Conference games on the road at Southern Indiana on Friday afternoon by scores of 18-5 and 11-4. The Cardinals drop to 9-14-1 overall and 4-8 in GLVC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• T1: The Screaming Eagles jumped out on top quickly with four runs on two Cardinal miscues and two sacrifices. (4-0, USI)
• T2: USI added two three runs on four hits in the second to extend the lead to seven. (7-0, USI)
• T4: A solo home run by Manny Lopez pushed the lead to eight after four frames. (8-0, USI)
• T5: The Eagles got an RBI single from Lucas McNew to push the advantage to nine. (9-0, USI)
• B5: The Cardinals got on the board in the fifth as Nick Modrcin led off the inning with a solo home run, his second of the season. Zac Vorst followed with a single and came around to score on a base hit from Chase Redick. (9-2, USI)
• T7: Ethan Hunter got a solo home run to get one run back for the Eagles. (10-2, USI)
• B7: Redick recorded his second RBI single of the game in the seventh and was followed up by a two RBI base hit from Anthony Hansen to pull Jewell within five. (10-5, USI)
• T8: The Eagles tacked on eight runs on four hits in the eighth. (18-5, USI)

• T1: Like the first game, USI jumped out to an early lead with two runs on two hits in the opening inning. (2-0, USI)
• B2: The Cardinals cut the lead in half as Nick Gavin blasted his first home run of the season. (2-1, USI)
• T3: Lopez put a sac fly out to left field to get the run back. (3-1, USI)
• T4: The Eagles plated six runs on three hits and took advantage of three Cardinal errors in the frame to extend the lead to eight. (9-1, USI)
• B4: Modrcin singled up the middle to score Trent Bollman and get a run back for the Cardinals. (9-2, USI)
• B7: Jewell added two more runs in the seventh on RBI from Bollman and Christian Chalabi. (9-4, USI)
• T8: USI added two runs in the eighth to bring the score to the final. (11-4, USI)
