Cardinals Drop Series Finale at Southern Indiana

The William Jewell baseball team fell 10-2 in the series finale at Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon in Evansville, Ind. The Cardinals drop to 9-15-1 overall and 3-8 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • B2: Trent Bollman led off the second inning with a single up the middle and scored on the first RBI of Zac Vorst's career to put Jewell on top early. (1-0, Jewell)
  • B3: The Cardinals added to their lead in the third as Tyler Murphy led off with a triple and crossed the plate after a single to right off the bat of Chsae Redick. (2-0, Jewell)
  • T4: Southern Indiana got on the board in the fourth with six runs on three hits to take the lead. (6-2, USI)
  • T7: The Eagles used a sac fly and two-RBI single from Wyatt Daly to expand their lead to seven. (9-2, USI)
  • T8: A single up the middle added an additional run for the Eagles in the eighth. (10-2, USI)

LEADERS OF THE FLIGHT
ON THE MOUND
  • Win: Austin Grossman (4-0) earned his fourth win, going eight strong innings allowing just two earned runs. 
  • Loss: Mack Stephenson (2-2) suffered the loss, working six frames while allowing seven runs. 

UP NEXT
The Cardinals are scheduled to return to Talley Stadium for the first time this season on Tuesday as they host Truman State for a single game at 2 p.m.
