Cardinals Drop 7-1 Decision to Truman

The William Jewell baseball team fell to Truman State by a final of 7-1 on Tuesday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. The loss drops the Cardinals to 9-16-1 overall and 3-9 in GLVC play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • T2: Truman State opening the scoring in the second inning, plating two runs on three hits. (2-0, TSU)
  • T3: The Bulldogs added to their lead with two runs, both unearned. (4-2, TSU)
  • T5: A double down the left field line from Anthony Stolley pushed the lead to five for the Bulldogs. (5-0, TSU)
  • T6: Eathan Kayser sent a home run over the left field wall to plate two more for the Bulldogs and push the lead to seven. (7-0, TSU)
  • B9: The Cardinals put the first three runners on base in the ninth inning and plated one run on a sac fly from Nick Modrcin. (7-1, TSU)

LEADERS OF THE FLIGHT
ON THE MOUND
  • Win: Buehrle (2-0) earned the win working eight shutout innings, allowing just four hits and two walks. 
  • Loss: Shane Cavallo (3-0) took the loss, going 5.1 frames and giving up four earned runs. 

UP NEXT
The Cardinals continue GLVC play this weekend as they host No. 6 Quincy for a three-game series beginning Saturday at 12 p.m.
