The William Jewell baseball team dropped a back-and-forth doubleheader on Saturday at Indianapolis to move to 15-21-1 and 9-15 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. 

GAME ONE
Jewell 3, UIndy - 7

HOW IT HAPPENED

• B2: UIndy got a leadoff triple followed by a sac fly in the second inning to take an early lead. (1-0, UIndy)
• T3: The Cardinals immediately responded as Trenton Worley singled and scored on a double from Tyler Murphy. (1-1)
• T5: Jewell took their first lead of the day as Mason Goade doubled in Austin Kline, before scoring himself on another RBI base hit from Murphy. (3-1, Jewell)
• B5: The Greyhounds came back with three runs on six hits in the bottom of the frame to retake the lead. (4-3, UIndy)
• B6: A three run home run from Orloff, extended the Hound lead in the sixth. (7-3, UIndy)

LEADERS OF THE FLIGHT

• Hits: Murphy (2)
• Runs: Kline (1), Goade (1), Worley (1)
• RBI: Murphy (2)

ON THE MOUND

• Win: Reid Werner (5-1) earned the win, tossing eight and one-third frames, allowing just two earned runs. 
• Loss: Shane Cavallo (1-4) took the loss, giving up three earned on three hits. 

GAME TWO
Jewell 1, UIndy - 3

HOW IT HAPPENED

• B1: UIndy again used an early sac fly to score and take the lead in the opening frame. (1-0, UIndy)
• B4: The Hounds used two hits and took advantage of an error to plate another run. (2-0, UIndy)
• B7: An RBI single from Holdsworth allowed an unearned run to cross the plate and push the lead to three. (3-0, UIndy)
• T9: The Cardinals threatened in the ninth, plating a run on a groundout by Anthony Hansen but could get no closer. (3-1, UIndy)

LEADERS OF THE FLIGHT

ON THE MOUND

• Win: Jake Sprinkle (3-0) remained unbeated on the season, throwing  a complete game, striking out three. 
• Loss: Thomas Hennelly (3-2) also went the distance, giving up two earned run with five batters fanned.
