The William Jewell baseball team scored three late runs but it was not enough as they dropped a non-conference game with Central Missouri by a final of 8-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- T1: The Mules jumped out to an early lead on a Cardinal error to go on top by a run. (1-0, UCM)
- B2: Jewell responded immediately as Tyler Murphy worked a leadoff walk before a throwing error by the Mules allowed him to cross the plate. (1-1)
- T3: Central Missouri back-to-back base hits followed by a bunt single to retake the lead. (2-1, UCM)
- T4: UCM added a run on a sac fly in the fourth allowing Cole Taylor to score. (3-1, UCM)
- T5: Three hits and a Jewell error led to three additional runs for the Mules to expand their lead to five. (6-1, UCM)
- B5: The Cardinals got a run back as Mason Goade tripled to lead off the bottom of the frame and scored on a sac fly by Trenton Worley. (6-2, UCM)
- B7: Goade scored again in the seventh, drawing a lead off walk before crossing the plate on a double down the right field line off the bat of Murphy. (6-3, UCM)
- T8: The Mules scored two runs on two hits in the eighth to push the lead back to five. (8-3, UCM)
- B8: Nick Gavin sent his fifth home run over the left field wall, a two-run shot to make it a three run game. (8-5, UCM)
