The William Jewell volleyball turned its best performance of the young 2019 season on Friday as they swept Montevallo to move to 1-5 on the year. The Cardinals dropped the opening match of the day to Cedarville, 3-1.

How it Happened
- The Cardinals jumped out to a six-point lead early in set one led by three kills from Paityn Hardison. The Yellowjackets rallied to to tie the set at 19 but Jewell outscored CU 5-3 the rest of the way.
- Roles were reversed in set two as Cedarville took the early lead and had Jewell rally to knot the score at at 14. CU finished the set on a 9-6 run.
- Set three was a back-and-forth affair as neither team could pull ahead by more than two points until late in the set when the Yellowjackets got five straight kills to go from down two to up three and never looked back.
- Jewell fell into an early four-point hole and could not recover in set four as they fell 25-19.
For the Cardinals
- Tori Vogt led the Cardinals with a double-double of 15 kills and 13 digs.
- Kennedy Ruckh posted a season-high 17 digs to lead Jewell.
- Grace Baucom added 10 kills
- Despite the loss, Jewell outhit the Yellowjackets .154 to .141
For the Yellowjackets
- Cedarville was led by Liene Miller and Lauren Willow with 14 and 12 kills respectively.
- Setter Sierra Schuitema collected a game-high 38 assists.

For the Cardinals
- Junior Lacey Albers led Jewell with nine kills on 15 attempts while committing just one error.
- Lauren Castaneda collected 17 assists and four digs.
- Bacom led the team with 12 digs while Elizabeth Quinn posted five blocks.
- Jewell held Montevallo to a season-low .050 attack percentage while hitting a season-best .344.
For the Falcons
- Hannah Fernandez posted nine kills to lead the Falcons.
- Savannah Roys handed out 29 assists
