The Jewell volleyball team used a 3-0 sweep of East Central University to earn a split of the opening day of the OBU/SNU Invitational. The Cardinals loss to the host Oklahoma Baptist to open the day 3-0 and move to 3-6 on the season.
GAME ONE

How it Happened
- Both teams opened the match strong offensively, combining for 34 kills and just seven errors. After the Bison opened a 8-2 lead, Jewell rallied to score six of the next seven points and tie the game at nine. With the set tied at 18, OBU recorded five kills and an ace to pull away.
- Set two was another close one until the Bison earned five kills to build separation at 22-15. Jewell got kills from Paityn Hardison and Tori Vogt but could not complete the comeback.
- After digging a six point hole the Cardinals were the beneficiaries of four OBU errors and two Vogt kills to pull within two, 21-19. The Bison responded with four of the next five points to take the match.
For the Cardinals
- Vogt shined for Jewell, posting 13 kills and just one error on 35 attempts.
- Hardison added eight kills with no errors to go along with 10 digs.
- Maddie Wingert led the defense with six blocks while Elizabeth Quinn added five.
For the Bison
- Taneyah Brown and Hayley Daniel led OBU with 13 and 10 kills respectively.
- Rylen Moore finished with a game-high 27 assists.
- The Bison hit .322 as a team compared to just .169 by Jewell.
GAME TWO

How it Happened
- The opening set was a back-and-forth affair until late when Jewell used three kills each from Hardison and Quinn to build momentum and take the set 25-19.
- Set wo was all Jewell from the beginning as the Cards jumped out to a 13-5 lead behind two kills from Haleigh Borich. The Tigers put together a small rally to pull within four but Jewell kept their foot on the gas as three more kills from Borich and Hardison sealed the set.
- The finale was again close until late in the set when Grace Baucom got in on the action with a pair of kills to push the Jewell lead to five on their way to the 25-17 victory.
For the Cardinals
- Jewell scored early and often against East Central posting their best offensive performance of the season with 50 kills on a .343 attack percentage.
- The Cardinals finished with seven team blocks to ECU's one, led by Jessica Jacobs with three.
- Hardison finished with a match-high 14 kills.
- Lauren Castaneda dished out 24 assists while Kennedy Ruckh added 12 digs.
For the Tigers
- East Central was led by Kaitlyn Coffey's six kills.
- Kasey Beeler added 13 digs.

The Cardinals finish out their final day of tournament play on Saturday as they head to Bethany, Okla. for the second half of the split OBU/SNU Invitational. Jewell will take on host Southern Nazarene as well as Northwestern Oklahoma.
