Cardinals Dominant from Start to Finish in Sweep of McKendree

The William Jewell volleyball team hit a season-high .356 on Saturday as they swept McKendree University by scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-17. The win moves the Cardinals to 5-8 on the season and 1-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

How it Happened
  • McKendree jumped out to an early lead in the opening set only to see the Cardinals go on a 14-2 run and to pull ahead 18-10. Five of Jewell's final seven points came off kills from Tori Vogt in the win.
  • Set two was a back-and-forth game until midway when two kills each from Maddie Wingert and Elizabeth Quinn helped the Cardinals go in front by 16-10. The Bearcats got back within three but the Cardinals got three straight kills to finish the set.
  • Jewell did not let up in set three, going on a 9-2 run to take a 19-11 lead. The teams traded points the rest of the way but the Cardinal lead was just too much for McKendree to overcome.
