Cardinals Fall 41-24 to Missouri S&T on Sunday

After the game was suspended on Saturday evening the William Jewell and Missouri S&T football teams picked back up on Sunday afternoon. The Miners used a big first half to pull away and down the Cardinals 41-24 to drop Jewell to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. 

How it Happened
  • The Miners wasted no time after the restart as Vidal Daniels grabbed an interception followed by back-to-back carries into the end zone. 
  • Jewell also worked quickly, scoring on the following drive as Will Schneider connected with TJ Guillory for 45 yards. 
  • Missouri S&T made it a 14-7 game on a 32 yard toss from Brennan Simms. 
  • Dalton Dye hit a 34-yard field goal with 12:43 to go in the first half to pull Jewell within 14-10. 
  • The Miners scored on their final two drives of the opening half to hold a 28-10 advantage at hte break. 
  • Jewell used nearly five minutes and 12 plays to travel 77 yards on the opening drive of the third quarter and topped it off with a nine yard touchdown reception by Zack Gaudette
  • The Miners added two more scores to push their lead to 24 at the end of the third quarter before Guillory scored his second touchdown of the day on a two yard reception to bring the score to the final. 

For the Cardinals
  • Schneider finished the day with a career-high 369 yards and three touchdowns. 
  • Guillory posted the first multi-touchdown game of his career and totaled a career-best 106 yards. 
  • Jalik Jaggwe added 132 yards giving the Cardinals two 100-plus yard receivers for the second time this season. 
  • Donte Colum led the defense with a career-best 12 tackles while Major Walker finished with seven including a sack and a blocked kick. 
  • Freshman Tyler Welch added a 22-yard sack in the fourth quarter. 

For the Miners
  • Simms topped the Miners with 296 passing yards with three scores. 
  • Aaron Moya collected 72 rushing yards while L. Armontrout posted 121 yards on six catches. 
  • T. Wharton led the defense with six tackles including two for loss.

The Cardinals remain at home next weekend as the host No. 12 Indianapolis at 1 p.m.
