The William Jewell men's basketball team held a one point lead at the half but could not hold on, falling 78-63 to Truman State on Thursday. The loss drops the Cardinals to 5-5 overall and 0-2 in league action. 

How it Happened

• Mason Alexander scored 10 early points to put Jewell on top by six seven minutes into the opening half. Truman went on a 17-4 run over the next six minutes to take a seven point advantage. The Cardinals closed the gap behind a 12-4 run to hold a 32-31 lead at break. 
• Jewell got back-to-back three pointers from Eysan Wiley to expand the lead to four but from there Truman would go on a 18-10 run to pull away. The Cardinals cut the lead to 13 late in the second half but could get no closer.

For the Cardinals

• Wiley finished with 24 points , while Mason Alexander added 13. 
• Jackson Golightly chipped in seven points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. 
• The Cardinals shot 37% from the field.

For the Bulldogs

• Brodric Thomas led all scorers with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Three other players also finished in double figures.
• Truman shot 41% from the field including 47% from three. 
• The Bulldogs grabbed nine offensive rebounds, leading to 15 points.
